Soria steps up to Rally2

ERC Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT champion Paulo Soria will get his first taste of four-wheel drive machinery when he debuts a Škoda Fabia Rally2 this weekend.

The Argentine triumphed in this year’s one-make Renault Clio Rally5 series after winning four out of five events and, although his prize includes three 2023 ERC outings in a Rally4-specification car, Soria was also considering additional options.

He will team up with Spanish co-driver Axel Coronado - who usually calls the pace notes for Pep Bassas - to contest Rally Due Valli in a Movisport and Delta Rally-prepared Škoda Fabia Rally2.

The event, based in Verona, is a round of the Italian national series and comprises 11 sealed-surface stages totalling 121.12km over one-and-a-half days, beginning later this afternoon (Friday).

"Happy to announce that I will debut alongside Axel Coronado (this Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October)...and with a Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo!" Soria said in a social media announcement.

"I want to thank very especially Movisport and Delta Rally for the huge support to take this big step. There will be 11 special stages on very demanding asphalt."

Several other ERC-registered crews will also contest the event. They include Rally di Roma Capitale winner Damiano De Tommaso, Team MRF Tyres star Simone Campedelli and ERC4 frontrunner Andrea Mabellini, who fields a Renault Clio Rally4.
