High-climbing Cuzma has ERC kilometres in mind

Bogdan Cuzma has his sights set on covering “as many kilometres as possible” during his debut season in the FIA European Rally Championship.

The 33-year-old, a former Romanian hillclimb champion, has made rallying his focus since 2021 and steps up to the ERC after placing fourth in his national championship in 2022.

Competing under the CB Rally Vest banner, Cuzma will drive a Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo for Keane Motorsport before switching to the Fabia RS Rally2 during the course of the upcoming campaign.

“I have two years in a proper rally car in the Romanian championship and now I want to step up into more international rallying,” said Cuzma, who will be co-driven by the experienced Austrian Ilka Minor. “The ERC contains a mixture of interesting and difficult events and it’s a perfect way to learn and improve.

“This year we want to get as many kilometres done as possible and gain experience in both surfaces – gravel and Tarmac – that’s the main goal. It will be a great opportunity for us to see how we can perform against the more experienced guys. We are really looking forward to an exciting year.”

Cuzma is being supported by Side Trading and BT Performance, plus Dalli-Werke GmbH & Co KG through the Dalli product range and Dash detergent.

“I want to thank all those involved in this project, I want to thank my partners for making my participation in the European Rally Championship possible and I also want to thank my parents who are always by my side", added Cuzma, who hails from Timisoara in western Romania. “With the greatly appreciated permission of our national ASN Automobil Clubul Român we will start into an adventurous season.”

Rally Serras de Fafe, Felgueiras, Boticas, Vieira do Minho e Cabeceiras de Basto opens the eight-event 2023 ERC season with the Portuguese gravel event taking place from 10 - 12 March.
