The 50-year-old set out on his 2023 ERC4 adventure with the aim of scoring “some good points” on each event he contests.
By finishing fifth in class on Rally Serras de Fafe, Felgueiras, Boticas, Vieira do Minho e Cabeceiras de Basto, Kreuter bagged 17 points aboard his Peugeot 208 Rally4.
However, it could have been a different story following a challenging opening leg, which Kreuter was unable to complete thanks to a troubled fourth stage.
Hampered by the loss of fourth gear and a drop in turbo pressure, Kreuter went straight on into a rock on a slippery downhill right-hander.
The German reported the impact speed was a mere 30kph but it was enough to break his Peugeot’s front-left wheel.
After finishing fifth following his restart on day two, Kreuter said: “We were still struggling with some problems but the focus was to bring the car home and score some points. We were very careful not to do anything stupid.”
