Nucita to go back to where his big ERC season began

Andrea Nucita will be back on familiar territory when the 2023 FIA European Rally Championship resumes with Rally Islas Canarias from 6 - 8 May.

The Italian began his 2019 title-winning Abarth Rally Cup campaign on the all-asphalt event in the May of that year and returns in a Racingnetwork-entered Hyundai i20 N Rally2 – and eager to impress.

It follows a challenging start to his 2023 ERC campaign on Rally Serras de Fafe, Felgueiras, Boticas, Vieira do Minho e Cabeceiras de Basto earlier this month, which ended three stages from the finish with a broken wheel.

“Portugal taught us a lot, made us grow and gain greater experience so we are looking forward to the next challenge,” said MRF Tyres-equipped Nucita, who was in the top 20 at the time of his early exit. “There’s a lot of work to do and a lot to learn, but we know we’re on the right track. I'm so sorry for Racingnetwork and all the supporters, we'll try to do it again as soon as possible.”

Nucita, a former Italian Junior champion, was competing in northern Portugal with stand-in co-driver Elia De Guio after Rudy Pollet, the 33-year-old’s regular navigator, became unavailable for the gravel-based season opener.
