ORLEN 79th Rally Poland 2023: Event Recap
Junior ERC rookie Kramer on his sinking feeling

Alfred Kramer experienced that sinking feeling on his FIA Junior ERC Championship debut in Poland last weekend.

The Austrian was chasing down a top 10 finish in the Hankook-equipped category when his hopes hit the deep on the 10th stage of ORLEN 79th Rally Poland.

“We were way too late on the brakes for the right-hander after the very fast crests,” said former circuit racer Kramer, 25. “I had to open the steering in the entry of the corner to avoid a bigger impact but unluckily there was a lake and went for a swim!

The car got stuck deep in the water but the Polish fans were very kind to help us out quite fast."

“We still need to gain a lot of experience on gravel but we will come back stronger.”

Kramer, whose father Alfred Sr was a successful rally driver, and Danish co-driver Jeannette Kvick suffered no injuries in the accident – once they had dried out following their impromptu dip.

They will be back in action on round two of the 10th Junior ERC season, Tet Rally Liepāja from 16 - 18 June.
