Better Pryce on offer as Welshman learns plenty on ERC debut

British champion Osian Pryce is in no doubt that his best form is yet to come following his experience-building FIA European Rally Championship debut earlier this month.

The 30-year-old just missed out on ERC points in 16th position following an ORLEN 79th Rally Poland full of firsts for the Welshman.

Although he could count on previous Rally Poland experience from his FIA World Rally Championship stint, Pryce was driving for Xevi Pons’ MAPO Motorsport team for the first time, in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo he’d never previously driven in competition and with a new co-driver in Belgium’s Stéphane Prévot alongside.

Pryce said: “We made some progress and learned a lot. With a bit of time I think it will come and I’m happy enough with how it’s gone. There’s a lot of analysing to do now but I’ve got a bit of an idea about Latvia.

“As soon as it clicks I know I can drive better but I have to accept I’ve been out of a car for a long time. I’m making the most of the opportunity and I’m very lucky to be here. I could easily be at home thinking about doing it but we’re here, we’re learning and we’re progressing.”

Following Tet Rally Liepāja (16 - 18 June), Pryce’s confirmed schedule also includes the all-new Royal Rally of Scandinavia from 6 - 8 July, the third of three consecutive high-speed gravel events in a row for Pryce and his ERC rivals.
