Roma bosses planning a “true happening” for Italy’s ERC counter

While the focus of the ERC’s drivers and teams is firmly on next week’s Tet Rally Liepāja (16 - 18 June) and the inaugural ERC Royal Rally of Scandinavia (6 - 8 July), the build-up to Italy’s ERC counter continues apace.

Through close partnerships with the Municipality of Roma Capitale, the Lazio Region, and a significant number of investors, Rally di Roma Capitale will “once again bring the spectacle just steps away from the Colosseum”, according to an announcement by the event organiser, Motorsport Italia.

The announcement continued: “It will feature a series of support initiatives aimed at children, families, car exhibitions, entertainment, happy hours and aperitifs, all just steps away from the Roman amphitheatre where millions of tourists line up every year to take a photo”.

Max Rendina, who heads up the organising team, said: “The 2023 edition has further centred its focus on the city of Rome and we cannot wait to reveal the details of Friday 28 July, which will be unmissable. The great classics will not be missing like the start from Castel Sant'Angelo and the parade through the city streets, but what will make this day a true happening in the heart of the capital will be everything revolving around the opening stage.

“In recent years, we have increased the popularity of the Rally di Roma Capitale by bringing it close to the citizens and tourists, leveraging the great showcase of this city to transform a sporting event into a moment of entertainment for everyone. This is our goal for this year as well.”

After what organisers are describing as an “unmissable start in the heart of Rome”, the event will run out of Fiuggi and the Frusinate region for two days of high-paced asphalt rallying, while several family-bases activities will take place in Fiuggi.

The seventh Rally di Roma Capitale to count for the ERC is set to feature a 13-stage route over 189.50 competitive kilometres.
