Solberg “super-excited” as ERC’s Sweden return nears

Petter Solberg says the opportunity to drive through selected BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia stages has left him “super-excited” with the clock ticking down to the start of round five of the FIA European Rally Championship.

Solberg is taking part in the Rally Legends demonstration event along with his wife Pernilla, older brother Henning, his fellow former FIA World Rally Championship title winner Stig Blomqvist, plus selected other star names from the past.

The 48-year-old will be at the wheel of his Citroën C4 WRC with his mother, Tove, co-driving. Pernilla Solberg will drive a Mitsubishi Lancer with Henning Solberg taking part in a Toyota Celica alongside his co-driving wife Maud. Stig Blomqvist has an Audi Quattro S1 at his disposal, while Alister McRae, father of FIA Junior ERC star Max, will demo Petter Solberg’s Ford Escort Mk2.

“The family is coming out to play and I’m super-excited to reveal that Pernilla, Henning and myself will be in action as part of the Rally Legends feature with many more rally legends coming too. It’s really cool to have a rally back near our hometown. I know it'll be an amazing show.”

While the older members of the Solberg family will be in demo mode, 21-year-old Oliver Solberg, Petter and Pernilla’s son, will be vying for glory on the 16-stage ERC event aboard a Toksport WRT-entered Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.

The Swede was driving a Polo when he became the youngest ERC event winner as a 17-year-old on Rally Liepāja in May 2019.

BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia takes place from 6 - 8 July with tickets still available but for advance sale only via: https://ercroyalrally.com/en/.
