How ERC is making Grzyb hastier at home

Grzegorz Grzyb will start this weekend’s Polish championship-counting MARMA Rajd Rzeszowski expecting to be even faster – thanks to his recent FIA European Rally Championship outing on Rally di Roma Capitale.

Grzyb heads the Polish championship points order after four rounds and is the top seed for the Tarmac event, which is based in his home city of Rzeszów from 8 - 10 August, having taken his third victory in 2022.

After finishing eighth among the ERC contenders in Italy last month, Grzyb said: “We are happy, we think about the top 10 and we arrive in the top 10. We don’t drive all season and this rally was very good training for us for the Polish championship. It sounds like a joke but it’s not a joke really because this year we focus for the Polish championship and we lead for this moment. I hope the next rally in Polish championship we go a little faster because the competition in ERC is very strong and the fight is very good for us as a team.”

Grzyb, who will compete in Rzeszów in a Rufa Motor-Sport Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo alongside co-driver Adam Binięda, will face opposition from two ERC regulars in Rzeszów – Erik Cais and Mārtiṇš Sesks.

“It’s my home rally and we try to win again,” said Grzyb. “I don’t live in Rzeszów now but my father lives there and my family still lives there. I would like to win again.”

As well as a round of the Polish and Slovakian, MARMA Rajd Rzeszowski, which hosted the ERC in 2016 and 2017, counts towards the FIA European Rally Trophy.

Meanwhile, Grzyb has confirmed plans for future ERC appearances having contested Rally Islas Canarias and Rally di Roma Capitale this season.

“For sure we go for more races next year,” Grzyb said. “We don’t drive every rally in the ERC but we will try to be on Canarias because this is the best rally. And we also like to be in Rome, because this is a good place. For the others we will decide later."
