ERC’s long-term Zlín alliance to continue

Barum Czech Rally Zlín will play a key role in the ongoing success of the FIA European Rally Championship for at least the next two seasons* following the signing of a contract extension.

Apart from 2020 when the event didn’t run due to restrictions resulting from the global health pandemic, Barum Czech Rally Zlín has hosted the ERC every year since 1984.

Although the 2024 ERC schedule is still in the process of being finalised, the new agreement marks another exciting chapter in the history of one of the best Tarmac rallies on the international calendar.

Iain Campbell, ERC manager, said: “The popularity of Barum Czech Rally Zlín, the spectacle and immense challenge on offer and the sheer size of the event continues to make this round of the FIA European Rally Championship a first-class addition to the ERC schedule year after year. To know we can count on this event for when we submit the 2024 calendar for approval is fantastic news but to know our long-standing partnership will extend at least into 2025 and hopefully beyond is even better news. We look forward to working with the organising team to make the rally even bigger and better in the future.”

Jan Regner, Barum Czech Rally Zlín clerk of the course, said: “We are very happy to continue in FIA European Rally Championship. We gave simply all to make a very good event this year and a two-year contract is the reward for all of our volunteer organising team and many marshals who devoted their time to make this event happen. Without them, it would not be possible. We would like to say thank you for Continental Barum, who supports us for 52 years, to Region Zlín, City Zlín, National Sporting Agency and to WRC Promoter for giving us this opportunity to show our potential also in the future. It is for us big honour and the tradition of being in the ERC for 40 years and having Continental Barum as our main partner for even longer are two things we are very proud of.”

This year’s event, the 52nd edition, ran from August 18 - 20 and attracted 231 media representatives from 13 countries, while an estimated 200,000 fans followed the action on the stages in Southern Moravia.
