Škulj sets sights on more Junior ERC fireworks

Mark Škulj wants to build on his impressive FIA Junior ERC introduction with another championship campaign in 2024.

The Slovenian, 19, made his category debut on Rally di Roma Capitale in July and scored points in sixth position among the Hankook-equipped category drivers.

After driveshaft failure forced him out of Barum Czech Rally Zlín in August, Škulj regrouped and completed the Junior ERC podium on Rally Hungary last month at the wheel of an Opel Corsa Rally4.

“I hope it will be Junior ERC [next year], that’s the plan and we’re trying to get sponsors,” Škulj said at the completion of Rally Hungary. “I want to say a big thanks to my sponsors and family who made this possible.”

Of his Rally Hungary Junior ERC podium, Škulj said: “We’re happy and satisfied with our performance, a bit of luck because others had problems but that’s part of the race and we had a good pace.”

With regular co-driver Pia Šumer unwell, Škulj called on former wingman Matej Čar to partner him on Rally Hungary. However, Šumer was back in action on Rally Soča Valley, which took place one week after the ERC season finale and ended with a fourth-place overall finish and class victory.

Škulj and Šumer are set to complete their 2023 campaign on Rally Idrija in their homeland from 11 - 12 November.
