Raftery gains in Spain after impressive Junior ERC campaign

Aoife Raftery completed her first season of international competition, which included an impressive FIA Junior ERC Championship campaign, with two strong performances in Spain recently.

Co-driven by Hannah McKillop, Raftery was the second best Rally4 finisher on the gravel-based Rally Ciudad de Pozoblanco in November before she finished 12th of the Spanish Tarmac Cup contenders on Rallye Ciudad de Valencia at the start of December.

On both occasions, the 23-year-old drove a Peugeot 208 Rally4 supported by the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy and run by PCRS Rallysport.

Following Rallye Ciudad de Valencia, Raftery said: It was great to do another rally in Spain. It was a fantastic event where we focused on certain aspects to try and improve and build on. We made good progress on learning and developing and if we can carry that into next year it will be nice.

She added: It has been a fantastic year. It is great to end the year with another strong result. We are really looking forward to what next year has to bring. Thanks to PCRS, the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy and all my sponsors.

Raftery, who only began competing in the summer of 2021, finished ninth in the final Junior ERC standings in 2023. She finished in the top seven of the Hankook-supported category on two occasions.
