Short film captures enormity of the achievement of Lupu’s ERC debut

Ciprian Lupu’s heroics in reaching the finish of his FIA European Rally Championship debut, July’s Rally di Roma Capitale, have been captured in a short film.

Lupu, who is tetraplegic and a wheelchair user, drove a Napoca Rally Academy Renault Clio Rally5 to 17th place in the ERC4 category and 10th among the RC5 class contenders alongside co-driver Andrei Pintilii.

To underline the enormity of the achievement, the 40-year-old Romanian worked with Mihai Luncan on the film, which is available to watch HERE

“Thanks to Rally di Roma Capitale I made a short summary with Mihai Luncan of a dream that I still struggle to wake up from,” Lupu wrote on Facebook. “I couldn't have been there without those who seriously support my passion, who believe I can go beyond limits.

“I don't want to say it was hard, to complain. But it was tough just to be honest with you. Sometimes I wonder where I got so much will to finish the rally. Because, to take the stage to the end, to finish the contest, in conditions where I thought I was physically failing several times, was all that could be done, realistically speaking. The sporting result was not at the personal level, but I will never forget the most important rally of my career so far.”
