Andrea Mabellini was voted Rallylink.it’s Personality of the Year, his co-driver Virginia Lenzi was chosen as the recipient of the Loris Roggia Trophy, while Roberto Daprà scooped the Promising Driver of the Year honour.
Part of the MRF Tyres Dealer Team, Mabellini, who was also voted as FIAERC.com’s Most Improved Driver of 2023, scored ERC points on four occasions last season and set four fastest stage times. These included the Power Stage on both Rally Islas Canarias and Rally di Roma Capitale.
The 24-year-old beat Italian champion and Rally di Roma Capitale winner Andrea Crugnola in the Rallylink.it poll. Crugnola, Paolo Andreucci, Giandomenico Basso, Gigi Galli, Robert Kubica and Luca Rossetti are former winners of the accolade.
Lenzi’s achievements alongside Mabellini were not restricted to the ERC with the pair winning a round of both the Italian Gravel and Tarmac championships. Their victory on last November’s ACI Rally Monza capped an impressive campaign by the duo, their first full season in Rally2 machinery.
Lenzi (above) edged out Martina Musiari in a tight race for the Loris Roggia Trophy, awarded in memory of the 10-time ERC event winner, who lost his life in an accident co-driving Andrea Aghini on Rally del Salento in 2003, a round of the European championship at the time.
Meanwhile, Daprà’s (below) efforts in winning the FIA ERC4 Championship and finishing a close runner-up in Junior ERC impressed Rallylink.it users, who voted him as the Promising Driver of the Year ahead of Edoardo De Antoni and Francesco dei Ceci.
The fifth running of Rally Hungary opens the 2024 season from 12 - 14 April.
