Carlberg: Junior ERC chance a "dream"

Calle Carlberg’s upcoming graduation to the FIA Junior ERC Championship is a “dream come true” according to the Swedish talent.

Carlberg’s Junior ERC move is his prize for winning the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup in 2023 and will give him the opportunity to follow in the wheel tracks of previous winners Laurent Pellier (2021) and Timo Schulz (2022, below).

The 23-year-old, whose father Torbjörn co-drove his Schmack Motorsport-run Opel Corsa e-Rally to title glory, secured the career-changing incentive on last October’s Central European Rally with a five-point margin over German driver Max Reiter.

He said at the time: “We really did it. There was so much pressure on us all weekend. I was so nervous because while I knew I really just had to finish, I also realised how quickly a mistake could happen in these incredibly difficult conditions. In the end, I was no longer thinking about the rally result, but only about the championship and I am overjoyed that we brought the Corsa Rally Electric to the finish in one piece. Many thanks to everyone who helped, and thanks especially to Max and Conny [Nemenich], who were such strong, fair opponents to us throughout the season.”

Carlberg can now look forward to challenging for Junior ERC honours in an ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team-entered Opel Corsa Rally4 equipped with Hankook tyres, the championship’s official tyre supplier. “It’s a dream come true,” he said.

Registrations have opened for the 2024 ADAC Opel e-rally Cup powered by Gse when a Junior ERC prize drive will once again be up for grabs for the eventual winner. More information is available at

Drivers planning to contest the 2024 Junior ERC Championship must be younger than 27 on 1 January, compete in a Rally4 or Rally5 category car, register for the FIA ERC4 Championship, and also complete the WRC Promoter GmbH Junior Driver Agreement, which is available here:

The six-round 2024 FIA Junior ERC Championship season gets under way on Rally Hungary from 12 - 14 April.
