Former ERC champion Ingram welcomes the fight at home

Chris Ingram can’t wait to take on the FIA European Rally Championship elite when JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion hosts the penultimate event of the 2024 season from 30 August - 1 September.

Ingram, the 2019 ERC champion, is planning to contest the Welsh Tarmac event (bottom image) as part of his Probite British Rally Championship campaign alongside co-driver Alex Kihurani.

The 29-year-old said: “The Rali Ceredigion stages look amazing, a proper challenge, and it’s going to be brilliant to be a part of it when the ERC returns to Wales after 40 years. I know only too well how competitive the ERC is so bring it on.

“Alex and I showed strong pace in Europe last year despite a limited programme, so I can’t wait to see how we can progress this year. And no driver in history has won the British and European championships.”

He continued: “My intention is to return to WRC2 stronger for a few rounds later in the year once we have established solid foundations for the future. For now, I cannot wait to be back competing in the UK, have the chance to focus on a full championship, something I have not had for a while, and to test my skills against the ERC stars when they come to Rali Ceredigion. A massive thanks to my loyal partners and supporters.”

Ingram began his European Rally Championship adventure in Junior ERC in 2014 driving a Renault Twingo for his family team. He took the title in 2017 and became the outright champion in 2019, the first Briton to do so since the late Vic Elford triumphed in 1967.

“The media coverage is incredible, the rallies are so unique and so challenging,” Ingram said of the ERC. “And each event offers such a different challenge. And then the support you get from each place we go to, from the fans, is unbelievable. Wherever we go it’s another world. Every rally is so special individually and it just makes for an amazing championship that I wish I could do every year.”
