The Hungarian heroes were hospitalised following the accident but are expected to return home tomorrow (Sunday) to continue their recovery.
“We had a problem on the stage but we are both okay,” said Nagy. “We both have some fractures but nothing serious although we have a lot of pain everywhere because the impact was from 110kph to zero, so thank you once again to Škoda for making such a strong car.”
The crash occurred almost a year to the day that Csomós and Nagy were involved in a car-wrecking accident on the opening day of Rally Islas Canarias.
While that incident put Csomós out of action for several events until a crowdfunding campaign secured sufficient finance to source a replacement car – and prompted Nagy to take a break from co-driving – a return on BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia next month is a possibility.
“I hope we can be in Sweden, I want to drive there, Mixi wants to drive there,” Nagy said. “We want to come back, the car was insured so if we can get another car we hope to be back. But the important thing is we are going to be okay.”
BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia forms round three of the eight-event ERC season from 13 - 15 June.
