The three legends who inspired Suarez on ERC comeback revealed

The Spanish driver, who finished fifth on the Las Palmas-based rally after being embroiled in a thrilling battle for third place, carried a new safety helmet design for the Tarmac event, which featured caricatures of three drivers he holds in high regard: Craig Breen, Colin McRae and Henri Toivonen.

Asked why, the 33-year-old Recalvi Team driver explained: “Craig was my friend, we fight in Junior WRC, we spend a lot of time together in WRC2 and after I finished my time in the world championship we were still in contact, I miss him a lot.  

“Colin was the reference, a way of life. For me Henri was the best driver in Group B.”
