As well as being able to watch the battle for FIA European Rally Championship glory unfold on the high-speed gravel stages of Sweden’s Värmland region, fans can also look forward to Royal Rally Legends.
Having run as a demonstration event on selected BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia stages last July Royal Rally Legends will take in all stages across both legs in between the two loops of stages contested by the ERC stars and their cars.
Värmland rally royalty for home run: Nineteen-time Swedish champion and two-time Rally Sweden winner Mats Jonsson will contest Royal Rally Legends in a replica of the Toyota Celica he used to claim WRC success in the past. Tom Axelsson will rival Jonsson in the four-wheel-drive division aboard his Audi Ur-Quattro.
Two-wheel stars on show: Several famous two-wheel-drive cars will be in action on Royal Rally Legends. They include Arne Rådström’s six-cylinder Volvo 262, Lotta Lundqvist’s Opel Manta 400 and Göran Jonasson’s Vauxhall Chevette. Värmland rally icon Bror Danielsson will take part in his Ford Escort, while Kim Sevius competes in a Volvo PV.
Legendary Lancia returns: Rune and Ewa Andersson have entered Royal Rally Legends in a Lancia Stratos Replica, ending a wait of more than 40 years since a Lancia last competed in Sweden, according to the BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia organisers.
“The whole idea with Legends is to offer rally fans a buffet of fine historic cars, really broad drifts, and cool rally profiles,” said BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia CEO Glenn Olsson. “This year’s line-up has a fantastic mix of this, and my personal favourite is, of course, the Stratos.”
