After a dominant category victory on V-Híd Rally Hungary in April, Kohn has been busy taming Tarmac on Croatia Rally and Tiki Rally Velenje in Slovenia, where he finished second overall on his debut outing in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Back behind the wheel of his Ford Fiesta Rally3, Kohn is preparing for his first BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia appearance when maximising points in ERC3 and the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy will be the priority for the 21-year-old.
“I’m gearing up to conquer the challenging gravel tracks – no Tarmac this time,” Czech driver Kohn said. “Back to fast gravel mode and I can’t wait.”
Kohn, who is co-driven by Brit Tom Woodburn, starts round three of the ERC season having been recognised as the Czech Talent of the Year for 2023 as part of he prestigious Zlatý volant (Golden Steering wheel) awards, which are decided by a jury of Czech motorsport experts and fans. Formula 2 driver Roman Staněk, Moto2 rider Filip Salač and rider Katarína Kývalová were also honoured at the event in Prague last month.
“Honoured to be named Talent of the Year 2023,” Kohn said. “Huge thanks to my dad, team, sponsors, family and fans for their unwavering support. This trophy is a testament to our collective dedication and hard work.”
Kohn will have to see off stiff competition on BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia if he is to bag his second successive ERC success.
Following his ERC3 victory on Rally Islas Canarias at the start of May, Poland’s Igor Widłak (above) tops the standings with an 11-point margin over Turkey’s Kerem Kazaz, who finished runner-up on the Tarmac event.
Having made one start in 2024 compared to Widłak and Kazaz, who have both completed two events, Kohn is 24 points behind Widłak, the 2022 ERC3 champion.
Croatian Martin Ravenščak (below) is fourth in the table with Tristan Charpentier, an ex-single-seater racer from France, preparing to make his ERC debut on BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia.
All five drivers compete in Pirelli-equipped Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars making them eligible for the new-for-2024 ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy. A separate preview on M-Sport Poland’s exciting initiative will be published at FIAERC.com tomorrow (Wednesday).
