Kohn needs to finish ahead of Igor Widłak on the Tarmac event, a new addition to the ERC schedule for 2024, to become provisional ERC3 champion and follow in the wheel tracks of Jon Armstrong, who lifted the Rally3 crown last season.
While the 21-year-old Czech is a Rali Ceredigion rookie, his British co-driver, Tom Woodburn, contested the event in 2022 and plans to capitalise on that experience.
“The roads are different again from other ERC rounds but bumpy in places and we’ve had a lot of that this year,” said Woodburn. “But they’re so narrow [in Wales] so it’s a different characteristic so it will be interesting. And we always know the weather can mix things up a bit in the UK.”
With Daniel Dymurski co-driving Junior WRC contender Jakub Matulka in Wales, Michał Marczewski returns to the right-side seat of Widłak’s Fiesta Rally3 having partnered his fellow Pole on three ERC rounds earlier this season. Widłak is the 2022 ERC3 champion and claimed top ERC3 honours on Rally Islas Canarias in May.
Eamonn Kelly is another Junior WRC frontrunner contesting the penultimate round of the 2024 ERC3 season. The Irishman took a class win on Rali Ceredigion in 2022, while navigator Rory Kennedy co-drove Kelly’s father Donagh on the opening three rounds of this year’s FIA European Historic Rally Championship.
JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion marks Aleksandar Tomov’s third ERC3 appearance of the year following his step up from Junior ERC for Rally di Roma Capitale in July. The 19-year-old from Bulgaria is the lone Renault Clio Rally3 contender competing in the first ERC event to take place in the UK since 2016.
