Praise from Paddon for top ERC team

Hayden Paddon celebrated winning in the FIA European Rally Championship for the first time this season by paying tribute to the hard work carried out by his BRC Racing Team.

The Hyundai-powered squad from Italy extended its lead of the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams to 26 points over Team MRF Tyres after Paddon triumphed on JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion ahead of Andrea Mabellini, who forms part of the Team MRF Tyres line-up.

At the finish in Aberystwyth on Sunday, Paddon said: “It’s full credit to the guys [at BRC Racing Team] because they’ve been working hard all year to get things dialled in with the car. When everything works it’s easy. We’ve been chasing this feeling for quite a while and finally we got that feeling.”

Behind Team MRF Tyres, TRT Rally Team demoted Eurosol Racing Team Hungary for third place thanks to Junior ERC driver Max McRae’s efforts. Estonian outfit Redgrey was also on the move, climbing from seventh to sixth behind ACCR Toyota Dolák.

Established Turkish entrant Atölye Kazaz moved into ninth place behind ACCR Orsák Rally Sport and F.P.F. Sport after three-time British champion Matt Edwards picked up 21 points. Topp-Cars Rally Team heads to the ERC season-deciding Rally Silesia in Poland next month in 10th place in the provisional order.
