Can Mille be mighty in ERC3?

Not content with taking the FIA ERC4 and Junior ERC championships by storm in 2024, Mille Johansson is now preparing to challenge for ERC3 glory when Rally Silesia hosts the season finale from 11 - 13 October.

Johansson, 19, is stepping up to the ERC’s second tier to drive a Ford Fiesta Rally3 run by his regular team, IK Sport, and equipped with Hankook tyres. Johan Grönvall will continue to co-drive.

He’s using the all-Tarmac event in Poland to prepare for his FIA Junior WRC Championship campaign in 2025, his prize for winning the Junior ERC title this season.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for Johan and me to drive a Rally3 car in Poland,” said Swede Johansson. “Thanks to IK Sport and Hankook, who helped us with the budget for this race. It will be a great test ahead of next year’s JWRC adventure, and it will be our first time driving a four-wheel-drive car on asphalt.”

He continued: “We’re not putting in extra preparation for the event, as we see it mainly as practice for next year. So, we’re not aiming for a top finish, but we do want to get a good feel for the car and learn how it handles on asphalt.”

Home hope aiming for a season-deciding high in ERC3
Ford Fiesta Rally3-powered Igor Widłak (pictured above) starts Rally Silesia hoping he’s the ERC3 driver to beat on his home round of the championship. But fellow Pole Hubert Kowalczyk, the national RC3 class champion, will be a tough opponent in a Renault Clio Rally3.

Croatia’s Martin Ravenščak (pictured below) has banked two ERC3 podiums this season and will be a firm contender to make it three on Rally Silesia. Mille Johansson’s team-mate, who is co-driven by sister Dora, gained recent asphalt practice by contesting last month’s MAHLE Rally Nova Gorica in Slovenia.
