ERC fan livery vote great recognition, says Ingram

Castrol MEM Rally Team winning the ERC Livery of the Year award for 2024 is great recognition according to former European champion Chris Ingram.

The Toyota GR Yaris Rally2-powered squad’s recreation of the iconic Castrol livery used by factory Toyota World Rally Cars in the early 1990s won the most votes during the annual FIA European Rally Championship fan awards.

The striking colour scheme carried by the Castrol MEM Rally Team headed Yoann Bonato’s Citroen Xsara WRC tribute livery, the partly pink design Simone Campedelli used on Rally di Roma Capitale to shine a spotlight on female empowerment through his sponsor Orange1 Holding’s Orange1 for Women initiative, plus the mainly blue and dark red livery used by ORLEN-backed Miko Marczyk and created by Polish designer Michał Podsiadło.

Ingram, who along with team-mate Meirion Evans unleashed the Castrol livery on last month’s JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, said: “Driving one of the Castrol Yaris is a huge opportunity to be associated with an iconic brand and use the iconic livery. It’s great the ERC fans have recognised the livery as their favourite, and hopefully we can add to the history of this legendary collaboration.”

Donald Smith, Castrol global sponsorship manager, added: “We are very pleased to see the Castrol sponsored MEM Rally Team’s Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 be awarded the fans favourite livery. It’s great to see this iconic livery on the stages again, bringing back so many good memories for rally fans across Europe. A big thanks to the fans for their votes, and we look forward to showcasing the livery again in 2025.”
