Following that landmark moment in 2004, some of the greatest rally cars ever built have battled for glory in the various categories that continue to ensure the ERC remains as popular as it is relevant.
Whether it was the Ford Fiesta R5 that broke new ground as the first Rally2 car (as the category is now known) to win a round of the ERC in 2013, the Abarth Grande Punto S2000 that ushered in the Super 2000 rules with a win on the 2006 season opener, or the Opel Adam R2 that dominated the early years of Junior ERC, the modern era of the FIA European Rally Championship has been contested by some truly great cars.
From Monday (4 November), fans can vote from a shortlist of 16 great ERC cars prepared by our team of experts. Employing bracketology, voting is available through the ERC’s social media channels with a 24-hour window to vote for each pairing. The winner will be announced on 4 December.
ERC championship manager Iain Campbell said: “Having asked fans to pick their greatest ERC driver of all time last year, we’re now putting the greatest cars to have competed in the ERC since 2004, when the modern era began, in the spotlight. The shortlist is packed with some truly great cars and I can’t wait to see how the voting goes and who comes out on top.”
