ERC Greatest Car voting continues with battle of the Group N greats

It’s week two of voting to decide the ERC Greatest Car of the modern era and up first is a battle between two Group N greats.

After fighting for glory on the stages of the FIA European Rally Championship, Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution IX and Subaru’s Impreza STI N12 and are now jostling for a place in the quarter-finals of the ERC Greatest Car fan vote.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX was a benchmark production car of the early part of the modern ERC era. Despite the emergence of the more technically advanced Super 2000 cars, the Lancer Evolution IX banked eight wins and 26 podiums during its ERC tenure.

One win and five podiums from two years of ERC service between 2006 and 2007 represented a decent return for the Subaru Impreza STI N12, one of several versions of the production class contender to compete successfully in the European championship.

Here are the key numbers and don’t forget to follow the ERC’s social media channels to vote.

ERC Greatest Car of the modern era explained
It’s not just the drivers who have starred since the FIA European Rally Championship calendar was streamlined into the format recognisable today.

Following that landmark moment in 2004, some of the greatest rally cars ever built have battled for glory in the various categories that continue to ensure the ERC remains as popular as it is relevant.

Fans can vote from a shortlist of 16 great ERC cars prepared by our team of experts. Employing bracketology, voting is available through the ERC’s social media channels with a 24-hour window to vote for each pairing. The winner will be announced on 4 December.

Included on the shortlist are the Abarth Grande Punto, Citroën C3 Rally2, the Škoda Fabia R5, and many more.
