ERC stars support Orange1 for Women Rally Co-Driver Contest

Frontrunning FIA European Rally Championship drivers and co-drivers helped to make the Orange1 for Women Rally Co-Driver Contest a huge success with several aspiring female competitors receiving two days of expert training and tuition.

Taking place at Orange1 Holding's headquarters in Arsiè, Belluno, Italy, from 21 - 22 November, the Orange1 for Women Rally Co-Driver Contest gave 10 young female co-drivers from a total of 61 applicants the opportunity “to participate in an exclusive course designed to provide theoretical and practical skills that are fundamental for embarking on a co- driver career in the world of rallying”, according to an Orange1 communication.

The two-day programme consisted of theoretical sessions, technical insights and one-to-one meetings with the coaching staff. The participants also gained practical experience in Valstagna ahead of a final technical test, a tyre change at the Arsiè site.

Orange1’s communication continued: “The experience was enriched by unique moments, such as the meeting with the young people of the Orange1 Basket social project in Bassano, an initiative that embodies the values of inclusion and growth that Orange1 strongly supports. The day ended with a convivial dinner in the presence of Orange1 president Armando Donazzan, who wanted to be close to the participants to personally encourage them”.

Donazzan said: “I am delighted to be able to support young talent through initiatives like this. I deeply believe in the importance of giving back by offering young people the opportunity to build their own projects and pursue their dreams. Seeing the enthusiasm of these girls makes me proud and confirms the value of initiatives that combine education, passion and human values.”

The Orange1 for Women Rally Co-Driver Contest was funded by the Orange1 for People Foundation, which is “committed to unleashing the potential of young people, offering them visibility and concrete opportunities to achieve their goals with commitment and determination”, according to the Orange1 communication. “The Orange1 for Women Rally Co-Driver Contest “proved to be a success in every respect, creating an atmosphere of cooperation and joy that made these two days memorable for all participants. Orange1 Racing will continue to support projects that promote talent, inclusivity and personal growth”.

ERC podium finishers Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton, ERC event winner Pietro Ometto and ERC category winner Simone Brachi formed the coaching team along with presenter and reporter Hollie McRae.

Campedelli’s important ERC mission remembered
Simone Campedelli shone a spotlight on female empowerment on the FIA European Rally Championship-counting Rally di Roma Capitale in July.

The double Italian Tarmac champion promoted the Orange1 for Women initiative through his participation in the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 he shared with co-driver Tania Canton.

A statement from Orange1 Holding, Campedelli’s long-term partner, read: “This project represents Orange1’s commitment to female empowerment, highlighting its support for women with ambitions and dreams in the world of work and sport.

“The aim of Orange1 for Women is to actively promote inclusion and support for women. Through all its divisions, Orange1 is committed to creating an environment that values women’s skills and talents, offering concrete opportunities for growth and development.”

Campedelli and Canton finished the all-Tarmac event in second position.
