ERC newcomer Rali Ceredigion gets Motorsport News award

FIA European Rally Championship newcomer JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion has been revealed as the winner of the Motorsport News Event of the Year for 2024.

The weekly motorsport-focused UK newspaper revealed a raft of winners in its 5 - 12 December issue and the ERC counter was selected by a panel of judges as the stand-out event of 2024. It beat competition from five other blue riband contests.

Alongside the accolade for JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, 2019 ERC champion Chris Ingram was decorated for his capture of the Probite British Rally Championship crown this term. Ingram’s gong came after a public vote gave him more support than the nine other nominees.

Ingram was thrilled with his own honour, but also heralded the challenge of JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, which doubled as a round of the ERC and British championship.

“I absolutely loved Rali Ceredigion and I can’t wait to go back there for another shot at it,” said Ingram. “I will be all guns blazing to take the win.

“Ceredigion has great stages, great organisation and the Aberystwyth City stage is exactly what we need in terms of bringing rallying to the public. There were thousands of people there who might not have seen rallying before.

“Once you get out onto the event proper, the stages are a real challenge and most of them are relatively new to British rallying, so it is always an interesting challenge. There was so much buzz around it. It is the best thing to happen to the UK rallying calendar in a very. very long time.”

JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion forms round seven of the eight-event 2025 ERC season from 5 - 7 September.
