Strong ERC Junior pace gives Furuseth reason to believe
Sindre Furuseth’s impressive pace on his FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship has helped to cancel out the Norwegian’s Rally di Roma Capitale heartbreak.
The Norwegian, who was making his debut in the Pirelli-equipped division, was battling for the lead when a mechanical issue took hold nearing the end of leg one and led to his early retirement.
“We don’t know exactly what happened yet but it was not electrical, it was mechanical because it was something inside the engine, maybe a broken piston,” said Furuseth. “I did some stupid mistakes on the first day but I had the speed and it would have been a great fight for the victory. It’s really a shame what has happened but it was good to compare my speed to the best [young] drivers in Europe.”
