Tsouloftas continues ERC Junior discovery mission
Alexandros Tsouloftas will continue his learning mission when the FIA ERC1 Junior Championship resumes on Rally Islas Canarias this week.
Cypriot Tsouloftas has never previously tackled an asphalt rally, making the Gran Canaria contest a voyage of discovery.
“I have never driven a Tarmac-spec rally car nor a Tarmac rally, it’s my first non-gravel experience,” said Tsouloftas, who finished second in class to team-mate Chris Ingram on the Azores Rallye last month. “We have no Tarmac races in Cyprus, thus no experience. But I am super-excited and can’t wait.”
Part of the Germany-based Toksport WRT squad, Tsouloftas has a firm event plan in his mind. “I believe Rally Islas Canarias is the perfect event with wide sections, slow sections, fast sections and twisty areas. It is surely the ultimate experience for starting on Tarmac. Our ultimate goal is to finish the race, get as much experience as possible and, of course, try to keep the second place in ERC1 Junior.”
