After SS11: Griebel still going strong on ERC R5 debut
The ERC Junior champion Marijan Griebel continues to shine in his first event in an R5 car in the FIA European Rally Championship in Cyprus.
The German prospect was second quickest on this morning’s first stage – a repeat of Friday night’s DHL Stavrovouni test. He was 5.9 seconds faster than Ralfs Sirmacis to increase his margin over the Latvian overall to 47.5s as he closes on a second-place finish.
Alexey Lukyanuk was 6.9s faster than Griebel to extend his rally lead with three stages to go. He says that winning the Love Cyprus Golden Stage – held over the final two tests of the event – is his “main target” for today.
