Representing the Indian manufacturer of premium competition tyres, Team MRF Tyres tested in Gornja Bistra, 30 kilometres north of Zagreb, earlier today with drivers Erik Cais, Lauri Joona and Simone Tempestini all getting important running ahead of the Croatia Rally season finale getting under way on Friday.
Fresh from winning the Romanian championship for a 10th time last weekend, Tempestini said: “It was a positive day. Back in the European Rally Championship after a couple of national rounds in Romania on gravel tyres, today we had the chance to test again on Tarmac. It is my first time competing here, but I know the stages from following the WRC. The conditions will be tough for everyone, but we are ready and will try our best.”
For Finn Joona, the test marked his first experience driving with MRF Tyres. He said: “It was a proper test day. It is great to join this team for the first time with these colours. The test stage was not fully representative of the rally, but we had good kilometres, and we are ready for the event.”
Like Joona, Czech Cais had never previously driven on MRF Tyres prior to today’s test. He added: “I am very happy for this opportunity with MRF Tyres. Back in the FIA ERC, today we worked on the car set-up and on understanding how it behaves on the technical Croatian roads. The team is working really well, and I am looking forward to the beautiful Croatian stages.”
With one round remaining, Team MRF Tyres heads M-Sport Ford World Rally Team in the battle to win the 2025 FIA European Rally Championship for Teams.
