How does the first week of the 2022 season look?

Leading drivers from the FIA European Rally Championship are preparing to fly high in Fafe later this week (11-13 March).

Ahead of Rally Serras de Fafe - Felgueiras - Cabreira e Boticas opening the 2022 season, here’s a reminder of what’s coming up over the next five days.

Monday: The journey to Fafe is underway with teams and drivers beginning to head to Portugal. Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández will do so having won the opening round of the Spanish Supercampeonato, Rally Tierras Altas de Lorca, last weekend on their debut for Team MRF Tyres.

Tuesday: Preparations continue for round one of the eight-event ERC season with some teams undertaking private test sessions close to the rally route.

Wednesday: The official test for Rally Serras de Fafe - Felgueiras - Cabreira e Boticas is scheduled for 9 March, while the service park in Fafe opens for teams.

Thursday: Reconnaissance of the special stages begins, scrutineeing also takes place.

Friday: Reconnaissance concludes and the focus switches to Free Practice and the Qualifying Stage for Rally2 drivers, which is followed by shakedown for all other crews. The event officially starts at 21h03 local time with the Fafe Super Special Stage due to begin at 21h08.
