Bonato back for more ERC action

ERC rally winner Yoann Bonato has confirmed plans to undertake a part-programme in the 2023 FIA European Rally Championship.

Bonato, who hails from France, finished an impressive third overall in last year’s championship after capping off his season with a maiden victory on the asphalt roads of RallyRACC Catalunya - Costa Daurada.

In a social media announcement published on Friday evening, the 39-year-old confirmed his participation in at least four FIA European Rally Championship rounds in 2023, once again behind the wheel of a Michelin-shod Citroën C3 Rally2.

Bonato’s programme begins on gravel with the season-opening Rally Serras de Fafe (11 - 12 March) in Portugal, which is followed immediately by the sealed-surface Rally Islas Canarias (5 - 6 May). Two more asphalt outings at Rally di Roma Capitale (29 - 30 July) and IV Rally Hungary (7 - 8 October) will round off his ERC campaign.

He has previous Rally Serras de Fafe experience having contested the event in 2021, finishing eighth overall.

In addition to the above, Bonato will also carry out a full assault on the French Tarmac championship, of which he is a four-time champion.

Registrations are now open for the 2023 ERC and entries can be made via the FIA’s entry portal here.
