With Alejandro Cachón at the wheel of the team’s GR Yaris Rally2 (below), Toyota España scored 30 points, which was six more than Diego Ruiloba’s Citroën Rally Team managed during two days of intense competition.
Recalvi Team claimed 21 points courtesy of José Antonio Suárez, but it was the 19 points bagged by Hayden Paddon’s BRC Racing Team – one of several one-car operations chasing points in the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams – that keeps the Hyundai-powered outfit at the top of the provisional standings after two rounds.
Team MRF Tyres, the winner of the prestigious FIA title for the last two seasons, climbed from third to second in the table after Efrén Llarena and Andrea Mabellini combined to score 18 points for the Indian-backed squad. However, after completing Rally Islas Canarias with nine points, ACCR Orsák Rally Sport slipped from second to fourth in the championship ranking, as Eurosol Racing Team Hungary moved into third position.
To make the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams easier to follow and understand, and for clarification purposes, any ERC registered driver will be eligible to score Teams’ points regardless of the ERC category they contest. As previously a maximum of three cars can be registered for the purpose of scoring Teams’ championship points. A registered team entering more than three cars must nominate its scoring drivers prior to the completion of the administrative checking procedure. If no declaration is made, the team in question will not be eligible for points.
