Team MRF Tyres ahead in race to be top ERC entrant

Team MRF Tyres reversed a two-point deficit to move to the top of the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams with a strong showing on Delfi Rally Estonia last weekend.

Having arrived in the Baltics two points behind BRC Racing Team, Team MRF Tyres is now nine points ahead of its Italian rival as it bids to win the coveted FIA title for a third season running, thanks in part to the achievements of drivers Andrea Mabellini and Mārtiṇš Sesks.

TRT Racing Team strengthened its grip on third place after Mads Østberg bagged 24 points in Estonia. The Hungarian outfit is now on 69 points, 31 behind second-placed BRC Racing Team.

Estonia-based RedGrey was the biggest climber on round four of the ERC season, moving up from outside the top 10 to fourth position. ACCR Toyota Dolák, which didn’t compete in Estonia, slipped to fifth place.

FIA European Rally Championship for Teams: How it works
To make the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams easier to follow and understand, and for clarification purposes, any ERC registered driver will be eligible to score Teams’ points regardless of the ERC category they contest. As previously a maximum of three cars can be registered for the purpose of scoring Teams’ championship points. A registered team entering more than three cars must nominate its scoring drivers prior to the completion of the administrative checking procedure. If no declaration is made, the team in question will not be eligible for points.
