Why it’s “bring on Europe” time for Junior ERC-bound Lloyd

Ioan Lloyd says it’s “bring on Europe” time after he won the inaugural Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup IRE & UK, which comes with funding for an FIA Junior ERC Championship campaign in 2025.

The Welshman, 22, secured the title – and prize package – by finishing fourth in the category on Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally yesterday (Saturday).

“I’m absolutely over the moon,” said Lloyd, who was competing in a Peugeot 208 Rally4 alongside co-driver Sion Williams. “It was a little nerve-wracking, but I’m absolutely delighted. It’s absolute class, it’s a dream come true and I can’t thank my family, all the team and everyone involved enough. It was a massive effort.”

Lloyd, who impressed by scoring FIA ERC4 points on JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion last month, revealed he suffered an early fright on route to winning the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup IRE & UK.

“It was a tough day at the office,” Lloyd explained. “I made a mistake in the first [stage] when I clipped a rock on the line and bent a wheel, so we were just hoping nothing had broken. But the boys did an amazing job in service, we just got through and did what we needed to do. Bring on Europe.”

While Lloyd celebrated winning the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup IRE & UK, Chris Ingram added the British Rally Championship title to overall ERC title he won in 2019.

“What a relief,” said the Castrol MEM Rally Team driver, who was co-driven by Alex Kihurani. “Will [Creighton] has pushed so hard today and we have had to give it everything we had. It's been an amazing season, and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been an amazing competition. It’s not been an easy season, but that really adds to the story for us. It’s been amazing.”
